Wednesday/Thursday, March 11 & 12: Students took grammar quiz & had the remainder of the period to work on their first drafts. HW: None, enjoy break and stay healthy!
Monday/Tuesday, March 9 & 10: Grammar review/mini-lesson. First drafts due. Peer editing/editing stations in class. HW: Grammar quiz next class period.
Friday, March 6: In class students worked on their paper.
Wednesday/Thursday, March 4 & 5: Mini-lesson on thesis statements (with practice & short exit quiz), then students worked on their outline & thesis during class. HW: Outline should be complete & in the appropriate folder by 8 pm.
Monday/Tuesday, March 2 & 3: Students completed short survey on their understanding of grammar concepts. Then, the small group text paper was assigned & teacher demonstrated how to brainstorm a topic effectively. Students completed brainstorming & began working on their outline in class. HW: Work on your outline.
Friday, February 28: First students were given a few extra minutes to finish their exams. After, we discussed how to write quality discussion questions & students re-wrote one of their questions as HW. HW: Rewrite any 1 of your discussion questions.
Wednesday/Thursday, February 26 & 27: Exam day. HW: NRI due @5 Friday.
Monday/Tuesday, February 24 & 25: Students were given an extension on their exam, which will now be on Wednesday & Thursday of this week. HW: NRI due on Friday @5.

Wednesday/Thursday, Feb 19-20: Exam review & date handed out & discussed. Reading day for 2nd half of the period. HW: NRI due @5 Friday. Write 5 typed discussion questions from your book. All questions should be intriguing and open-ended. Sample Question: On page 79, Scout says of Atticus, “It was times like these when I thought my father, who hated guns and had never been to any wars, was the bravest man who ever lived." Do you consider Atticus brave? If so, what makes Atticus brave and are there any limits to his bravery?
Monday/Tuesday, Feb 17-18: Students in section B did a writing prompt on their books about the moral decision-making of the characters. Then we registered for the ACT. Section A registered for the ACT through the whole period. HW: NRI due @5 Friday.
Friday, Feb 14: Finished discussing Job, turned in Ruth and Job. HW: Finish NRI by 5pm.
Wednesday/Thursday, Feb 12-13th: Class read God's response to Job allowed in class and stopped to discuss throughout. Annotating as we went. HW: finish reading Job, be prepared to turn in Ruth and Job Friday. Finish NRI by 5 pm.
